HexMat Conference - Pembroke College Oxford

aa2 hexmat2018

Arutyun Arutyunyan all set to speak about rapid (20kHz) fatigue testing of small scale (~100micron) test pieces in titanium

mg hexmat2018

Invited presentation from Prof Maryam Ghazisaeidi (OSU) using DFT calculations to understand alloying effects on deformation twinning in Ti and Mg alloys.

cm hexmat2018

First conference presentation for Christopher Magazzeni on work from year 1 of his DPhil.  Talking about microstructure and property changes at a linear friction weld in Ti-6Al-4V

Many OMG members really enjoyed the recent HexMat workshop.  Its great to have such a brilliant line-up of speakers for us to learn from and interact with.  Also a good opportunity for us to present our work and get some valuable feedback.  Particularly pleased that Yi Xiong, and Christopher Magazzeni gave excellent presentations - what a nice way for them to close out the first year of their DPhil studies in the group.

armand beaudoin hexmat2018

Invited speaker Prof Armand Beaudoin begins his talk describe some beautiful in situ synchrotron studies of deformation in Ti and Mg alloys.

xy hexmat2018

Yi Xiong summarises the first year of his DPhil working on cold creep effects in Ti. (taking in his stride the challenge of following Dave Rugg's opening of HexMat2018 conference)

jg hexmat2018

Our micromechanics maestro Dr Jicheng Gong speaking about tension-compression asymmetry studies using micro-cantilever bend testing.
