The OMG and MFFP teams were well represetned at the recent NuMat2018 Nuclear Materials Conference this October.  This was a great chance for them to showcase their work and catch up with colleagues and collaborators from arround the globe.  Keeping touch with the latest work from other groups and fresh perspectives from new colleagues can have an important and lasting impact.

The meeting was in Seatle a long trip to make - at least there was plenty of coffee to help with any jetlag.
Presentations from Oxford folk included:

  • Ed Darnbrough - 'Investigating radiation damage effect on nano-indentation plastic zones in tungsten'
  • Tom Davis - 'Understanding the nano-oxide particle nature of irradiated oxide dispersion strengthened steels'
  • Anna Kareer - 'Radiation resistant high entropy alloys for fast reactor cladding applications'
  • Jack Haley - 'Radiation damage with a twist - a study of helical dislocations in irradiated FeCr alloys'
  • Yehven Zayachuk - 'Micromechanical characterization of the radiation and temperature effects on SiC-SiC fibre composites for accident-tolerant fuel applications'
