Alex is a member of the CDT in Advanced Characterisation of Materials at Imperial College London. Her work revolves around studying interfaces in olivine, a major component of the upper mantle and an emerging bio and microwave ceramic. Alex focuses on understanding how external conditions, for example during ceramic processing, influence grain boundary populations. She uses advanced electron microscopy including EBSD, and PED in the TEM. She is jointly supervised by Katharina (Tinka) Marquardt and David Dopson - UCL.
