Mahsu investigates the radiation damage tolerance of tungsten diboride ceramic for use in radiation shielding for fusion reactors. A key focus of his work is characterising helium ion-beam-induced defect evolution in the material using a transmission electron microscope. His work is co-sponsored by the CDT-ACM and Tokamak Energy and supervised by Sam Humphry-Baker and Tinka Marquardt.
